Ahoy, Mateys! A Rugby Tour Tale from the Streatham-Croydon Women+ Team All Aboard the Party Bus to Newquay!

Gather 'round, ye landlubbers, and let me spin ye a yarn about the most epic rugby tour the Streatham-Croydon Women+ Team has ever set sail on! It all began on the first weekend of May, when our merry band of 37 rugby warriors boarded the bus to Newquay, Cornwall. Decked out in our finest pirate attire, spirits as high as the Jolly Roger, we embarked on a journey filled with laughter, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories.

Match Day Shenanigans

Saturday dawned bright and early, and it was time for battle on the field against the fierce Falmouth Ladies. Our team played with the strength of a thousand sea serpents, and the camaraderie was as tight as a sailor’s knot. After a hard-fought match, it was time to drop anchor and enjoy a well-earned social afternoon.

Dressed in our finest pirate and parrot garb, we embarked on an afternoon of games and challenges that would have made even Blackbeard jealous.

With an unforgettable win behind us, it was back to Newquay for a night out on the town where we danced the night away like true buccaneers, with a few sea shanties thrown in for good measure.

Sunday Funday: Surf's Up and Tour Olympics

Sunday morning brought a change of pace with the sea calling our names. We hit the waves for a surf session that was more wipeout than hang ten, but the laughs and camaraderie made it all worthwhile.

Then came the Tour Olympics, where our competitive spirits shone brighter than a treasure chest full of gold. The best sandcastle challenge saw masterpieces of sandy architecture rise and fall and the beer relay race was a test of speed and stamina!

As the sun set on our final day, we gathered for a dinner that was the perfect ending to an incredible weekend. The restaurant on the beach provided delicious food and unbeatable company.

And so, our pirate-themed rugby tour came to an end, but the bonds we forged and the memories we made will last a lifetime. Here’s to the Streatham-Croydon Women+ Team, to friendship, and to many more adventures on and off the rugby field. Until next time, mateys, may your tackles be strong, your drinks be cold, and your adventures be epic!
